We photographed some of these families' parents. A few of the children we photograph today were brought in by mums and dads who sat for us in 1999, which is either lovely or slightly alarming depending on the day.
Warm light, warm photos, no drama
We shoot everything in warm, soft light — near a window, in a doorway, or out in the yard in the last of the morning sun. Nothing we produce is cold or clinical, and that's completely deliberate.
Families in the Illawarra have been putting our photographs on their fridges since 1998. We know exactly what makes it onto a fridge and what quietly goes in a drawer, and we shoot for the fridge every single time.
Why centres stay with us
The same faces, year after year
Our newest photographer has been here six years. Most centres have had the same person turn up every year for a decade, and the children know them by name before the van doors open.
We have never missed a booking
Twenty-eight years, not one cancelled photo day. Illness, floods, a van fire in 2011 — someone has always turned up on the day we said we would.
Nothing is ever deleted
Every photograph we have taken since 1998 is still here. Parents ring us for reprints of pictures from twenty years ago and we find them, usually the same afternoon.

Our season begins in March and carries on through to December. Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Nowra and everywhere along the coast between them. Existing centres get first pick, then we open the rest up.
