a commercial studio
that took a childcare job.
Northlight began as a product and portrait studio in Fitzroy North. In 2017 a centre in Carlton North asked whether we would photograph their children, because they wanted images that matched the rest of their brand.
We approached it exactly as we would a commercial commission: controlled light, one background, a considered crop. The centre used the portraits on their website for the next four years.
Within two years childcare was most of what we did.
we are not for everyone.
If you want your children photographed outdoors, mid-play, in natural light, there are photographers who do that very well. We are not one of them.
We make controlled, consistent, quiet portraits. Some centres find them cold. Others have been waiting years for someone to do exactly this.

That is the number one photographer can do at this standard while still editing every frame personally. We have turned down more than we have accepted every year since 2019.
We do not intend to add photographers. Adding people is how a studio's work stops looking like one studio's work.

Public liability and professional indemnity. Certificates of currency provided on request and renewed annually.

Reconciled against your enrolment record on the morning, with your nominated supervisor. Unconfirmed means not photographed.

Australian hosting. Encrypted. Files held five years, then destroyed.
